A WorkSafeBC employee-funded giving program called “Helping Hands” has donated $40,000 to Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation to help launch a new program entitled ‘Helping Kids Hear’. This new program supports low income families with the cost of hearing equipment for their hearing impaired children living in the Tri-Cities, and across the Fraser Health Authority region.
This exciting $40,000 donation from the WorkSafeBC’s employee-giving program will provide as many as 20 hearing impaired children (aged five to 19) with new hearing equipment—costs which can be prohibitive for many families. Hearing equipment costs approximately $2,000 per child every three years (ear molds, hearing aids and batteries).

“It is very reassuring to know that the work our foundation is doing is recognized and appreciated by such a respected and well-established organization as this one,” said ERHF Executive Director Charlene Giovannetti-King.
The IODE is an established Canadian charitable organization that started in 1900 to support Canadians during times of war. It was named the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE) to reflect the social and political fabric of the country at that time.
The IODE Dewdney Chapter is an active group of women who live in the Fraser Valley from the Tri-Cities area, in the west, to Chilliwack in the east. The chapter does charitable work on behalf of various groups providing a range of community services.
