Bill Dick

Meet Bill Dick. owner Phoenix Truck and Crane

The cardiology department at Eagle Ridge Hospital will be getting a new Echo cardiograph unit this year thanks to a generous gift from Bill Dick, owner of Phoenix Truck and Crane. ECG units are used to obtain vitally important information about what is happening to a heart in crisis that can make the difference between life and death.

This is not the first time Mr. Dick has stepped up to help the hospital acquire medical equipment that was urgently needed. Last year, at the Evening of Caring, he made a gift that allowed

Eagle Ridge to obtain a new cystoscope, a tool that allows ERH urologists to diagnose and treat cancer of the prostate. Cancer and heart disease have both touched Mr. Dick’s family in the past. In expressing his appreciation to the physicians and staff at Eagle Ridge for helping his family, he said, “We have had some close calls with both cancer and heart issues and I am pleased to be able to help the hospital that helps us. For me, it just makes good sense. These investments in our community hospital are investments that benefits my family.”

“Eagle Ridge Hospital depends on the generosity of the community in order to acquire the medical equipment we need to serve the Tri-cities, and it is leadership of this kind that makes what we do possible. We are very grateful for friends like Bill Dick and Phoenix Truck and Crane.” says David Clark, Executive Director of the Foundation. He continued, “This year, Eagle Ridge needs over $1.5million in new equipment that will not be supplied by the government. Generous donors like Bill Dick make sure Eagle Ridge is equipped to provide the best care possible.”

Over 18,000 ECG’s are performed by the cardiology staff each year at Eagle Ridge Hospital. Some patients are referred by their family physician and many others arrive in Emergency with cardiac symptoms or even in cardiac arrest. Mr. Dick’s donation will replace one ECG that is ten years old and will ensure patients at ERH receive the best possible care.
