Each year the plastic surgeons at Eagle Ridge Hospital perform numerous reconstructive and cosmetic surgeries. Between 4 to 10 percent of women choose reconstructive surgery after a mastectomy. Why is this important? For many women who face the prospect of losing their breast(s) due to cancer, reconstructive surgery provides symmetry to the patients’ breasts, which helps them toward emotional healing.
Our plastic surgeons also use the liposuction system when performing abdominoplasty surgeries, which involves removing excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. The surgery is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple pregnancies, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where they can return to normal.
At Eagle Ridge Hospital our plastic surgeons need a new liposuction system to meet the needs of the many breast cancer patients and post pregnancy mothers who come to this hospital for reconstructive surgical care.
