An Arjo walker is a highly specialized walking device that will be used for ERH’s in-patient rehabilitation programs.

“This group of women are demonstrating remarkable commitment and generosity to our community,” said ERHF Board Chair, Alison Johansen. “This is the kind of gesture that makes a significant improvement to patient care at Eagle Ridge Hospital.”

“The first donation from this chapter was already a very generous one,” said ERHF Executive Director, Charlene Giovannetti-King. “To get this size of donation from the same dedicated group of women in the same year is impressive. We are so delighted and so grateful.”

“Our Chapter won a substantial award from the Provincial Chapter Mary Emerson Trust Fund which allowed us to make this gift to the Foundation,” said Margaret Strocel, president of the Dewdney Chapter.

The IODE is an established Canadian Woman’s Charitable Organization whose vision is to expand educational opportunities and improve the physical and emotional health of Canadians. The Dewdney Chapter is an active group of women who do charitable work on behalf of various groups, providing a range of community services.

“The gift they gave us went beyond our expectations. We are ecstatic to receive this substantial donation,” said ERHF Board Chair Alison Johansen. “We are so grateful to the IODE for supporting our community hospital so generously.”

W2H is a fundraising event of Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation, and it relies on pledges for its bicycle event to reach its fundraising goal.

The Drive for the Cure Foundation has been a supportive team to W2H as it has for other charitable causes. Since its beginning, the Drive For the Cure Foundation, with the generous support of local BC businesses and individuals, has raised over $1 million to provide funds for cancer care and treatment for the people of B.C.

Proceeds from DFC Foundation events are used to enhance the health, well-being and quality of life for those struggling with cancer. Funds raised by the Drive for the Cure team have gone to the purchase of diagnostic and treatment equipment for a number of hospitals in B.C. including $11,400 for a colonoscope for Eagle Ridge Hospital in 2011.

Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation wants to give a grateful shout-out to Team DFC by showing such a strong commitment to this key Tri-Cities charity event.

Tzu Chi Foundation Members present a large donation cheque in the amount of $32,000 to complete the $154,000 need to add a second cardiac echo ultrasound to the cardiac diagnostic services at ERH.

Since 2011, the cardiology program has seen a total increase of 43% of in-patients and out-patients compared with the 2010. Charlene Giovannetti-King noted that the ultrasound machine has been in such high demand that there was a wait list of six months for people to receive these tests. The new cardiac ultrasound machine can capture clear 3D imagery and detail each beat of the heart. With the funds to purchase the equipment, cardiologists can now identify and diagnose potentially life-threatening conditions sooner for patients in our Tri Cities community. The Tzu Chi Foundation completes this campaign for cardiology that began last September at the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation’s Evening of Caring fundraising gala.
