Anne Yolland, 10, performed the impossible when she raised $800 for Wheel to Heal 2010. She proved once again that children are great fund raisers. They know who to ask, when to ask, how much to ask for, when to ask again and where to go on the rare occasions when they are turned down. Anne is splendid proof of this truth. In addition to asking family, friends and neighbours, she also ran a successful lemonade stand to go past her goal. Way to go, Anne. You are a star.
Another Amazing Story
Jacob Conroy and Mayeriko Pione are inseparable 11 year old buddies who have each visited Eagle Ridge’s Emergency Department. Jacob saw the Wheel to Heal posters at Rocky Point Park and recruited Mayeriko to help him raise money for the hospital. They worked after school going door to door and in two days had raised $468. There’s was an outstanding performance that should challenge participants next year. Good job, guys.
A Third Great Story
Trevor Evancic was the top individual fund raiser who participated in Wheel to Heal. He set a goal of $3,000 and raised $4,055, 135% of his original goal. Trevor is also a member of the top fund raising team, Follow the Rainbow, led by Brad Johansen. Follow the Rainbow set out to raise $5,000 and finished up at $8,589. A hearty well done to all you Follow the Rainbowers. It will take a strong challenge for any team to take your title away from you next year.
Wheel to Heal grew in year two
This year, we saw ridership grow from 82 in year one to 210 this year which represents outstanding growth of 156%. The full contribution from the community to support the purchase of medical equipment for Eagle Ridge Hospital was an amazing $75,000.
