Your donation will help buy much-needed medical equipment for Eagle Ridge Hospital to help us ensure that we can continue delivering the highest quality of health care to all of our patients.

We will acknowledge your gift with heartfelt thanks and mail you a tax receipt within a few days. Only charities registered with the Canada Revenue Agency may issue an official receipt for income tax purposes. Under Canada Revenue Agency rules, some contributions do not qualify for an income tax receipt: personal services; sponsorships; gifts where benefits were received (items bought at auctions, raffle tickets, etc.); and the price of admission to concerts, dinners and similar fundraising functions that represent value for money.

Yes! You can direct your gift to buy a specific piece of equipment on our current Capital Equipment Priority List. You may also target your gift to patient programs, hospital departments, or to Eagle Ridge Manor.

Absolutely. Just send us a cheque, along with the name of the deceased, your relationship to the deceased and the name and address of the next of kin.

We will send an acknowledgment to you, with heartfelt appreciation, and a tax receipt. We will advise the next of kin that you have made a memorial gift, without revealing the amount.

Absolutely! When you send your gift, include the name, address and reason for honouring that person. We will mail your special person a card telling them of your donation without revealing the amount.

You will also receive an acknowledgement, with thanks!, and an official receipt for tax purposes.

Honour someone just because you love them or, perhaps they are far away and you miss them. Maybe they have survived an illness, or an operation, and you want to celebrate that the sun came up today.

Birthday, new baby, anniversary, graduation, retirement, wedding, religious holiday — the choices are endless!

You can sign up for our Monthly Giving Program on the online donation form. Just fill out the "Contribute Monthly" section and you can become a monthly donor today.

If you prefer to make arrangements over the phone, feel free to call us at 604-469-3128. Via telephone, you have the option to set up your monthly donation by VISA, Mastercard or pre-authorized payment from your bank account.

Your pre-authorized monthly payment will be processed on the 1st or the 15th of the month. Tell us which date works best for you, and we will be more than happy to accomodate you!

Just let us know what changes you wish to make and we will take care of the rest.

Yes. We will send a tax receipt at the end of the year for the total amount of your monthly gifts.

Just contact us and inform us of the change. We will always respect your wishes, and of course, if you choose to start again, you are welcome back anytime!

Definitely. An estate gift is a wonderful way to support the hospital after you have gone. You can leave a specific gift such a designated amount of money or, an item. You also have the option of leaving a residual gift that is a percentage of the amount left over after your debts have been paid and your specified gifts have been made.

Please discuss your will with your financial advisor, accountant, lawyer or notary before making a commitment.

Here are examples of the kind of language you could use:

• “I give to Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation in Port Moody, BC the sum of __________.”
• “I give to Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation in Port Moody, BC 500 shares of XYZ Corporation (or, my oil well in Fort McMurray or, my 1963 Chev Belaire convertible).”
• For a residual gift, “I give Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation of Port Moody, BC __________% (for example 50%) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate.”

There are several different ways to make gifts in the future, including some types of life insurance, gifts of retirement fund accumulations — (RRSP and RRIF funds), gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts and gifts of residual interest. If you sell stock in a publicly traded Canadian corporation, on which you have earned a capital gain, the gain is subject to income tax. However, the 2006 federal budget makes provision for you to avoid 100% of the capital gain tax that would be payable if you sold the shares — by donating them to charity instead.

The Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation is a non-granting fundraising organization. All gifts donated to the foundation support the hospital’s priority needs.

Yes! With the many activities we have year-round, a helping hand is always appreciated. Volunteers devote their time and expertise to support foundation activities in a variety of ways in the Foundation Office and at our event. Volunteers help to keep our operating costs down and our spirits high, so please, join us!
