The Hospital and Manor
Eagle Ridge Hospital is the Tri-Cities community hospital serving more then 216,000 residents of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra. The hospital is also a centre for elective surgery for patients from surrounding communities including Burnaby, Surrey and Maple Ridge.
The hospital opened in 1984 and is now serving the second fastest growing area within Fraser Health. From newborn babies to grandparents, more than 100,000 people use ERH services each year.
Here are some other interesting statistics for 2007/08:
- Emergency visits – more than 42,000
- Surgeries – more than 7,000
- Outpatient visits – approximately 57,000
Despite the growing demand, ERH is well known for its tranquil setting and well-planned design. Wide hallways have windows to courtyards and gardens, patient rooms have windows, and wards are warm and inviting. Services including Emergency, Medical Imaging, Lab, Ambulatory Care, Physiotherapy and Cardiology are all conveniently located on the main floor.
Eagle Ridge Hospital is the hub for outpatient clinics for asthma and diabetes and for outreach public health services, such as communicable disease control, maternal and child health, and home health and support services.
Eagle Ridge Manor provides extended care services which are a vital component of managing health issues for those who are unable to care for themselves.
The Foundation
Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation opened its doors in 1982 (when it was incorporated under the Society Act of British Columbia). Since 1999, it has raised more than $14 million dollars to support the needs of Eagle Ridge Hospital.
What We Do
The Foundation serves as a bridge between the Tri-Cities community and the Eagle Ridge Hospital by providing patients and hospital staff with the best medical equipment, programs and facilities possible.
We support educational activities and programs to increase staff knowledge, and medical and scientific research to improve the level of healthcare the hospital delivers to its patients.
In addition to it’s own fundraising, the foundation also supports the Board of Directors and other volunteer committees also dedicated to raising money for ERH.
How We Fundraise
From letter campaigns and special events, to the promotion of various avenues for donation – like becoming part of our monthly donor program – our fundraising activities are constant and year-round!
Fun Fact
Each year, the foundation raises money to purchase approximately 70% of all new equipment and technologies for the hospital and manor which are not funded through the Fraser Health Authority.
Think about that for a moment… without the fantastic community support we receive, this hospital would be left with only 30% of its equipment needs met!
Each year we set a goal for ourselves and each year, through the generosity of so many people, we reach that goal.
Looking Forward
As our population grows, the hospital will need to grow to meet the increased demand. By the year 2013 we will have nearly 100,000 additional people in our community. Almost all of them will use the hospital at least once – if not more.
