What's New for January 29, 2009

Donations… donations… donations!

It’s been a busy month at the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation. Campaigns are on the go, and our active and generous community have been raising money ’round the clock!

Here are three groups who deserve some big kudos this month…

ZEN the salon

For six weeks during the 2008 holiday season, this salon in Coquitlam’s Westwood Plateau Village donated 15% of all retail sales to the Foundation. The numbers are in … and $663 was raised!

Since 2002, ZEN the salon has been a yearly contributor to the Eagle Ridge Hospital. To date, their efforts have raised more than $6500!

Paul Siddaway, co-owner of the salon, says, “We are in the service industry and part of our service is to give back to the community. No business is to small to give! We hope our efforts will encourage others to do the same.”

Royal Canadian Legion #263

Veterans from this local legion proudly donated $5,000 towards the purchase of a new hematology analyzer for Eagle Ridge Hospital’s laboratory. A hematology analyzer is an essential piece of equipment which does simple and complicated blood testing for almost every patient at ERH.

The money was mainly raised during the November poppy drive.

Thank you Legion #263!

Port Coquitlam Legion #133

This local legion donated $5,000 towards the purchase of a ventilator for Eagle Ridge Hospital.

“We have members who need ventilators and we know how important they are,” says Fran Roberts, past president of Legion #133.

The Legion has been making an annual gift to the foundation for more than 10 years. Each year, fundraising efforts are year-long, and monies raised go towards the purchase of a single piece of much-needed equipment, such as a ventilator.

This time, the $5000 was raised in only four months and was donated in December 2008.

Thank you Legion #133!
